Spiritus

This shoot of cover girl Lisa Mitchell in November YEN is right on the money. I love everything about this from the colour, photography, styling and the sweet use of those nature inspired backdrops. This is exactly how 'flower power' should be done, as its almost nearing towards high fashion. Her now album 'Bless this Mess' is feature album on triple j at the moment and this shoot is pretty reflective of the whole albums vibe. The whole shoot seems to reflect the artists own aesthetic perfectly, it's mystical, whimsical and sophisticated

Clare Barrow via The Milk of Danzig

Claire Barrow has been making waves with her RAD AS S/S 13 collection. The graduate of Westminster University in the UK, has caused a stir with her DIY hand painted leathers, gaining a strong following from celebrities and notable fashion personnel. Her grad collection has a definite 70's punk culture vibe which seems to be ingrained in all of her work. Barrow's work is really spectacular, more so because of the artisanship, paying homage to slow fashion and 'wearable art'. The designer is entering an realm of ethical designers such as artist and all round genius Margot Bowman. These designers are implementing up cycling techniques into their practise without comprimising innovation.
These pieces are life long investments, i'm not talking about a black blazer with silk lapels but a seriously cool biker jackets which will receive HI 5's all round in 50 years time. Barrow is now branching out into hand-painted silks and digital print canvas, though her attention to detail seems to be unchanged through her design process. Definitely one to watch...

Something Else Summer 2013 Lookbook 'NEON MOON'

A selection of some of the looks from Australian label Something Else's summer lookbook. The styling is super rad and I love the use of mirror and reflection (which is giving me serious flashes Rihanna's 2006 SOS video clip....with a whole lot less bronzer and abit more pyjama dressing). Special mention to the sweet as digital prints especially the silk bomber. The amount of bombers i'v been picking out for myself for 2013 is ridiculous, i be bombin'.

botany

There is something pretty dam spectacular about Australia's flora and fauna. It's form, shape, colour and  size is completely organic and unique. Sometimes, I seem to forget how much inspiration is drawn from nature as it seems to be an infinite source of ideas. The connection between people and nature is inevitably strong and maybe that abundance is the reason creativity seems to flow with such ease between the two. Botanical references seem to be appearing through all forms of art, sculpture, fashion design and campaign styling. Here's a little collage of what i'v been finding...
